Week 2 – Building, Creating, Discovering and More!

It was another beautiful day for the Sunshine Group as we continued our week making friends and learning to work as a team. There were giggles, smiles, high fives, and cheers as everyone was excited to start the day and find out what activities their counselors had planned.

[icon name=”sun-o” class=”fa-spin” unprefixed_class=””] The red group became very engaged with nature as they went on a nature walk and made some designs with leaves.  They also made slime and played “fishy, fishy cross my ocean.”

[icon name=”sun-o” class=”fa-spin” unprefixed_class=””] The orange group planted grass, built structures using toothpicks and spice drops and made and played with bubbles as well!

[icon name=”sun-o” class=”fa-spin” unprefixed_class=””]  The yellow group played a few science based tag games, went on a nature walk, learned about rocks and the insides of computers.

[icon name=”sun-o” class=”fa-spin” unprefixed_class=””] The green group did some experiments and worked with some of the other groups to help with demonstrations or to develop activities for the week.

The discoveries and excitement continue tomorrow!

Permission Slip

Please remember to send in this permission slip for our trip to the Museum of Science.  Also, it is important to remember that everyone needs their blue and yellow camp t-shirt and sneakers for field trip days!

Wet, Wild, and Wonderful!

Our first trip to the pool was wetter than normal as the rain decided to arrive right as the first toes were dipping into the water. Everyone made the best of the experience and had a blast. We had plenty of fish in the water and some inventive uses of towels to shelter ourselves from the rain once out of the pool. The weather may not have been ideal, but friendships continued to form and there were lots of smiles to be found!

Next week, our theme is “Science and Engineering” and there will be lots of fun projects, activities, games, and more planned. It should be an amazing week of discovery and exploration!

Making New Friends and Reconnecting with Old Friends!

[icon name=”sun-o” class=”fa-spin” unprefixed_class=””] In the yellow group, they tried some teamwork challenges including an obstacle course, pool noodle task, and “cross the lava pit.” They also created puzzle pieces that were put together to showcase the whole group.

[icon name=”sun-o” class=”fa-spin” unprefixed_class=””] In the green group, they took on a cup stacking challenge using rubber bands and string and a mummy relay obstacle course with partners. Some of the green group joined other groups as models and helpers.

There is a lot of conversation taking place as everyone gets to know their new friends!

Attention Parents!

  1. If you are picking up your child(ren) from camp, be aware that if you park down by our tent, you may end up blocked in by the buses and you will need to be patient while we load them.
  2. If you have a family picture that you would be willing to send to us, we would like to create a picture community board to help us get to know everyone better.
  3. Tomorrow, we are hoping to go to the pool to swim (weather permitting), so please be sure to send your child(ren) dressed for the pool (if possible) and with any accessories necessary.
