We Beat the Heat at the Ecotarium Today!

We beat the heat at the Ecotarium today.  We had a great time exploring all of the exhibits in the museum.  There were all sorts of hands-on activities for the children to explore.

We also had an awesome ride on the train as well and we were even able to spot the red fox while on the ride.

Each group had a chance to experience a show in the planetarium.  Group one saw The Secret of the Cardboard Rocket and seemed to really enjoy it.  Group two saw Passport to the Universe and had a chance to learn a lot about space.

Turns out we are all made of “star stuff.”  Tomorrow we head to the pool which will be a perfect end to a hot week!

Science Week Continues with Great Success!

Egg Drop Challenge!

Group two experimented with gravity as they developed containers to help keep an egg safe in a long drop at the playground.  Just about every egg survived the fall!

Group one made themselves into a human roller coaster and then cooled off in the shade listening to a presentation about rocks from Joe, a CIT.

Everyone got to learn about sound waves from a presentation led by CITs, Zach and Matt.

Our water slide arrived so we had a nice way to cool off after a morning full of activities and exploration.

Tomorrow we head to the Ecotarium.  Please send in permission slips tomorrow.

Remember to wear camp shirt and sneakers and bring your snack, water bottle, and a lunch for the ride home.

First Day of Camp!! Also, Zoo Permission Slip, and Bus Routes

We’re going to the Zoo!!

Camp got off to a fantastic start today. The kids were ready and excited for fun at camp!  The highlight of the day was tie-dying t-shirts.  Everyone had the chance to pick colors for their shirt and, even though it was a messy task, it was totally worth it!

In addition, it was also the first day of Animal Week and we had many fun activities that kids were able to do.  Some played “Fishy, Fishy Cross My Ocean” down on the field while others created animals after listening to stories by our author of the week: Eric Carle.

We have more fun planned for tomorrow!  Thursday we head to the zoo!  Remember, field trip permission slips need to be printed, signed, and returned to camp by Thursday morning!
