Wet, Wild, and Wonderful!

Our first trip to the pool was wetter than normal as the rain decided to arrive right as the first toes were dipping into the water. Everyone made the best of the experience and had a blast. We had plenty of fish in the water and some inventive uses of towels to shelter ourselves from the rain once out of the pool. The weather may not have been ideal, but friendships continued to form and there were lots of smiles to be found!

Next week, our theme is “Science and Engineering” and there will be lots of fun projects, activities, games, and more planned. It should be an amazing week of discovery and exploration!

Making New Friends and Reconnecting with Old Friends!

It was another beautiful day for the Sunshine Group as we continued our week making friends and learning to work as a team. There were giggles, smiles, high fives, and cheers as everyone was excited to start the day and find out what activities their counselors had planned.

There is a lot of conversation taking place as everyone gets to know their new friends!

Attention Parents!

  1. If you are picking up your child(ren) from camp, be aware that if you park down by our tent, you may end up blocked in by the buses and you will need to be patient while we load them.
  2. If you have a family picture that you would be willing to send to us, we would like to create a picture community board to help us get to know everyone better.
  3. Tomorrow, we are hoping to go to the pool to swim (weather permitting), so please be sure to send your child(ren) dressed for the pool (if possible) and with any accessories necessary.

Opening Day – Here Comes The Sunshine Group!

We are up and running for the summer of 2017!  We started our morning singing together! We sang “Here Comes the Sun” and “You Are My Sunshine.”  It was a wonderful way to bring the whole group together before we broke off into our groups.

As we all got to know each other in our groups, different colors used different activities to fit the ages.  In the red group, they did a shaving cream and paint mixing activity, made a friendship chain, and played a name game using a ball.  In orange group, they made name tags for a friend within the group, made an “all about me” leaf for a group tree, and then played a teamwork water relay to cool off.  In yellow group, they did a hula hoop relay working as a team, played a group game of “Night at the Museum” and made friendship bracelets.  In green group, they played a teamwork blindfold treasure collection, a name scavenger hunt, and took on a challenge trying to write with a marker that had string attached to it.

All in all, it was a wonderful start to what is sure to be an incredible summer!
