Despite a soggy start to the day, we had a great day at Southwick’s Zoo!
The animals were out and active and the kids had a chance to see a variety of creatures. It was an awesome way to get the summer started and to bring some life to our animal theme this week 🙂
Tomorrow, we hope to go swimming so come to camp ready to go. It looks like tomorrow’s rain will wait until after camp.
Imaginative play was mixed with learning about animals as we began day two at camp.
Group one played a super fun game of Simon Says which included sounding like a lion, standing like a flamingo, and getting wings like a bird! Sometimes Simon tried to catch someone not listening but it didn’t work very often! Our campers were listening carefully.
Group two created grasshoppers and other creatures at arts & crafts before heading down to the field to bring these creatures to life!
Tomorrow we head to Southwicks Zoo! Please remember to send in a signed permission slip: Southwick’s Zoo Permission Slip. Your child(ren) will get their camp shirt tomorrow morning at camp.
Camp got off to a fantastic start today. The kids were ready and excited for fun at camp! The highlight of the day was tie-dying t-shirts. Everyone had the chance to pick colors for their shirt and, even though it was a messy task, it was totally worth it!
In addition, it was also the first day of Animal Week and we had many fun activities that kids were able to do. Some played “Fishy, Fishy Cross My Ocean” down on the field while others created animals after listening to stories by our author of the week: Eric Carle.
We have more fun planned for tomorrow! Thursday we head to the zoo! Remember, field trip permission slips need to be printed, signed, and returned to camp by Thursday morning!
