Music, Movement, and Performances This Week!

We’ve got the beat this week as we dance our way into a theme of music and movement and performances. Campers made some of their own musical instruments, got to watch some older campers play their own real instruments (guitars and drums), and learned some fun dances as well.

Tomorrow our campers will strut their way down the red carpet as we bring a little touch of Hollywood into our week! This will also prepare us nicely for our trip to the movies on Thursday. Please remember to send in permission slips.

FYI: We will be having our talent show on Friday this week. This will be a short presentation from about 9:15 – 10:00 and then we will jump on the bus and head to the pool to swim. Groups will be singing and dancing and there may even be some individual performances as well.

Fun at the Museum of Science – Download the Sunshine Recipe Book!

Our scientists had a fantastic time exploring all the exhibits and displays at the Museum of Science yesterday. They learned about the science of the playground, dinosaurs, fossils, animals, motion, water, and so much more. We even had a special opportunity to explore the Butterfly Garden where some children were even lucky enough to have butterflies land right on them!

Today, we headed off to the pool for a nice refreshing dip in the water! The children had a blast getting cooled off in the water! We have some amazing swimmers at camp this year. They are sad to get out when it is time to get ready to return to camp.

Also today, everyone went home with a special gift. We made a special Sunshine Group Recipe book that includes the ingredients and directions for oobleck, play-doh, and ice cream. You can download and print this book at the link below.

Next week’s theme is Let’s Make Noise! Our field trip is going to be to the Bellingham Movie Theater where we will be seeing Brave. We have our own special showing at the theater. It will be brighter and the sound will not be nearly as loud as it usually is at the movies. The concession stand will not be open while we are there. Please return the permission slip as soon as possible.

Another Day of Exciting Science and Experiments!

Our scientists were hard at work today! We learned about creating a vacuum to get an egg inside a bottle, making elephant toothpaste, creating an eruption with diet coke and mentos, and we even made our own ice cream and play-doh! We learned all about rocks from our resident geologist, Joe! Some of our scientists even made their own telescopes to help them see the stars in the night sky.

Tomorrow will be so much fun as we learn even more about science as we travel through the museum. Please remember camp tshirts, sneakers, snack, and lunch.

Remember: tomorrow is an extended day and we will return to camp at 2pm.
