A Fantastic Day at Hopkinton State Park!

Today we enjoyed the beautiful weather at Hopkinton State Park. We started off our day with our new rendition of the “Swimming Song” which was the “Kayak Song.” Everyone had the choice of swimming at the beach or kayaking to and around the island, and everyone had a blast and a half!

Tomorrow we will enjoy our (hopefully) first warm pool day of the summer!

Please remember to send your child(ren) to camp in their bathing suits, it’s going to be so much fun!

Games, Crafts and Learning About Water

Our week of Water Adventures continued today with many games, crafts and learning about water!  We tied water into art, science, and many other cool things! We had lots of fun creating an ocean in our tent and decorating our camp fish with personalized scales!

The Red Group made hair gel aquariums and colored fish for the Sunshine Group Aquarium!

The Orange Group had fun with ice painting, making scales for the camp fish, and created sea creatures out of paper plates! They played awesome games down at the field organized by the green group, and some obstacle courses set up by their counselors!

The Yellow Group had a water relay and continued playing their “Sponge Fling” game, as well as played games organized by the green group! For crafts they made fish scales, sea creatures and slime.

The Green Group taught the orange and yellow groups ocean themed games, helped turn the tent into an aquarium by cutting out water shapes and seaweed, as well as lake-based experiments that regarded oil spills, ocean layers, and buoyancy!

A reminder that tomorrow’s field trip is to Hopkinton State Park for kayaking or playing on the beach.

Send in your permission slips and waivers TOMORROW – please remember to fill out the permission slip even if you’ve filled out the waiver!
Everyone needs a waiver in order to kayak! Please send your child(ren) in their bathing suits, with their blue camp shirt over!

Week 3 – Water Adventures Week Begins!

As we began our week of Water Adventures, everyone enjoyed a nice sunny morning while doing the activities their counselors planned for them! We started off the morning talking about the weekend and singing songs, leading us to go on to learn all about the different things water has to offer! Luckily our morning was dry, but the water adventures continued on the way home with the rain.

[icon name=”sun-o” class=”fa-spin” unprefixed_class=””] In the red group, they made ocean slime and paper bowl jellyfish to learn about what the ocean looks like.  They also played “Fishy Fishy Cross My Ocean” to get a taste of what it feels like to be a fish!

[icon name=”sun-o” class=”fa-spin” unprefixed_class=””] In the orange group, they played with some foamy sand and made tin foil boats at arts and crafts, and tested the boats during field time! There was a lot of smiles and laughs on the waterslide and the sandbox, as well as while playing water relays to cool off!

[icon name=”sun-o” class=”fa-spin” unprefixed_class=””]  In the yellow group, everyone enjoyed the “Sponge Fling” game, played with sponges to cool off, and penny boats which were made out of tin foil, and then tested for buoyancy with rocks! Arts and crafts were filled with stations of hair gel aquariums, tin foil creatures, and paper plate sea creatures!

[icon name=”sun-o” class=”fa-spin” unprefixed_class=””] In the green group, they practiced playing ocean themed games that will be taught to the younger groups tomorrow, as well as made a camp wide aquarium under the tent. Many of the green group members read stories to the younger groups during snack time, which was enjoyable for all!
