Lions, and Tigers, and Monkeys…Oh My!

We had a positively beautiful morning for a trip to the zoo today and the weather could not have been better!

We had a fantastic time exploring the zoo and seeing all types of animals.  We saw black flamingos, really big tortoises, silly monkeys, giraffes, and even some elephants out for a walk with zookeepers!  We visited the petting zoo and the deer forest!  The lions and tigers were trying hard to stay cool in the shade and the monkeys were swinging from the trees making all kinds of sounds.  Everyone had a lot of fun!

Dragons, Unicorns, Trolls, and More!

It was another exciting day in the mythical world!  We went on a walk in search of Big Foot (rumor has it the creature was spotted!), there was another fun game of trolls and treasure, and there was a very entertaining performance designed and performed by some of our counselors and volunteers.

The play included a giant flying squirrel trying to capture a dragon’s golden football.  He received some help in outsmarting the dragon from a horse and unicorn.  They soaked him to extinguish his fire-breathing and even got him with a shaving cream pie!  There was lots of laughter and the children really enjoyed the performance!

Please remember to send in permission slips tomorrow.

**Morning drop offs need to be at camp by 8:55 AM tomorrow morning so that our bus can leave for the zoo at 9am.

We will return by 12:30 PM so the children only need snack and drink.  Remember red camp t-shirts and sneakers as well!

Mythical Week Begins!

The imagination and creativity continues this week as we travel into the world of myths, magic, and fantasy!  There were dragons and unicorns, magic wands and fairy dust, and even wizard hats.  The variety of creations was amazing and seeing the magic wands really work was fantastic.  Counselors were being turned into frogs and cows, they were being frozen and unfrozen, and the look of wonder from our magical campers was awesome.

Our mini-sessions today included some Taekwondo, archery (like Robin Hood), dancing like the genie from Aladdin, and story telling about unicorns and magic.  We even had a fun game of Quidditch on the field.

Tomorrow the magic continues!  Please remember to send in the permission slip for Thursday’s trip to the zoo.  Also, as the weather warms up, please remember to send in water bottles.  We can refill them during the day.
