A Beautiful Day at Hopkinton State Park!

Our final field trip of the summer was a huge success!  We had kayakers, super swimmers, and explorers.

We set out on the lake at Hopkinton State Park and it was a beautiful day to explore the water and the islands.  Some of our campers really got a workout paddling their kayak while others sat back and let their counselors do all of their hard work!  However, they all had big smiles on their faces.

Others made their way to the beach and spent the morning swimming!  Kayakers had a break when they made it to the islands and had a chance to do a little exploring.  All in all it was a wonderful day on the lake. It is hard to believe that tomorrow is the last day of camp.  The six weeks have gone by so fast because we have been having such a blast!

Tomorrow is the carnival and, as always, families are welcome to join us from 9:30 to noon for the carnival fun!

Rain Doesn’t Stop the Learning!

Today was our second rainy day (not too bad for a six week program).  We moved our activities inside and had a movie playing (Aladdin – to match our international travel theme) and the learning and fun continued.

Children made masks from other countries, drew pictures of what they might pack in a suitcase if they were traveling, saw a wonderful demonstration about trains, and then finished the day learning about Africa.

Luc did a special presentation featuring clothes, money, and some art from Senegal which was a fun treat at the end of the day.

Tomorrow we head to Hopkinton State Park to kayak and swim and our fabulous carnival is Friday!

Traveling the World

To start: There is a pink Barbie lunchbox missing.  Please double check backpacks to see if it accidentally ended up in the wrong one.

At camp today, we all became world travelers!  The day started with the making of passports.  Once those were complete, the whole camp headed to the airport.

Campers had their destinations listed on their tickets and they had their passport stamp as they went to each one.  Countries visited included Canada, Ireland, Scotland, China, India, Poland, Switzerland, Spain, Japan, Australia, and France!  At each stop, children learned about language, customs, dress, art, games, and more!

Some travel only required a train ride or a quick boat ride, but other trips required a plane ride and campers had a fun time making their way through the metal detector at the the airport and getting their tickets checked.  The learning and excitement continues tomorrow!

Please remember to send in permission slips for our final field trip this Thursday!  And don’t forget, the carnival is this Friday and families are welcome to join us!
