Week 2, Day 3: Did They Find Dory?

The first field trip of the summer was a super success!  Everyone had fun seeing Finding Dory and it is always nice to see a movie on the big screen without the normal loud sounds that many of us are used to at the movies. The volume was perfect and the lighting allowed us to come in and out of the theater easily when we needed to.

Tomorrow, we head to the pool for swimming.  Please send your child(ren) in bathing suits, if possible, so they will be ready to get on the bus when it is time to head to the pool.  If your child(ren) need any swimming assistance (floaties, wings, etc), please be sure to pack them tomorrow as well.

Next Week’s Details

Next week’s theme is SCIENCE and our staff has some awesome activities planned that will be interesting and exciting! Our field trip on Thursday will be to Children’s Museum (Red and Orange groups) and Science Museum (Yellow and Green groups).  Here is the permission slip:

Week 2, Day 2: Quidditch and Candy Land

A few important notes and reminders before getting into the excitement of the day:

  • Please remember to send in a permission slip if you have not already sent one in.

  • Children should have an orange camp t-shirt for field trips.  Please remember to wear it tomorrow.  If someone does not have one yet, they will be sure to get one first thing tomorrow morning.

  • It is important for children to wear sneakers on field trip days.

  • We hope to be back from the movie by about 12:15pm.  The bus routes will start by 12:30pm.

  • The two bus routes have been updated on the website.  Please take a look if your child(ren) take the bus.

  • Our website has a new feature.  You can sign up to receive email updates of our daily blog! Check it out!

**Thank you to everyone who has donated supplies and/or money to our program! We appreciate the support!**

Now for the fun and exciting updates!

It was a hot one at camp today and we were all happy to take water breaks in the shade and play in the pool and on the water slide. In between breaks, there was a great deal of fun and excitement happening.  Two major highlights of the day were Quidditch and Candy Land.  The green group did a wonderful job designing and organizing Candy Land with the help of some volunteers!  The other groups all seemed to have a blast playing.  Quidditch was lots of fun and Carolyn, our resident Harry Potter expert, did a fantastic job organizing it and explaining the rules!  Other activities of the day included decorating dragon eggs, planting beanstalks, and searching for Big Foot (rumor has it, we may have had a sighting)!  The excitement, investment, and cooperation we have seen in the first two weeks has been inspiring!  Cannot wait to see what the rest of the summer will bring!

Week 2, Day 1: Traveling to a World of Mystery, Magic and Imagination

We have traveled to a world of mystery, magic and imagination in week two! Mythical week has us talking about unicorns, dragons, super heroes, trolls, and more! Children created shields and crowns to transform themselves into princes and princesses, they designed wands to perform magic. Some counselors were turned into frogs, giraffes, rocks, and more… thankfully, the magicians were willing to turn them back to counselors! We also incorporated the Olympics traveling all the way to Greece where they began! Children had the chance to compete in various games, such as javelin and shot put!

Tomorrow, the adventures continue as the basketball court will be magically transformed into a giant game of Candy Land, and Harry Potter may even make an appearance on the Quidditch field!

Field Trip Permission Slips Due!
