Week 3, Day 4: Great Day at the Pool!

Everyone took a refreshing dip in the pool today! The cool water felt wonderful in this hot weather. Children had fun splashing, playing with friends, and laughing. There was even a fun game of duck, duck, goose happening in the pool! (Apparently it is tough to catch the other person in the water). We will not be at the pool next week, but will return for our last swim the week after.

Important: Next week, there is a switch in our schedule. Our field trip is on Friday instead of Thursday. We will remain at the senior center on Thursday with fun activities. We will also be having our annual Talent Show on Thursday, July 28th at 11am.

Also, when there is a change in pickup, dropoff, bus stop, etc. it helps to alleviate confusion and concern for us if we have the information in writing. It also allows all necessary people to be aware of the change. The best way to make us aware of changes is through the gmail account: campsunshinegroup@gmail.com.

Week 3, Day 2: Oobleck, Plate Tectonics and DNA

Tomorrow, All Groups will be Going to The Boston Museum of Science!

Please remember to wear an orange shirt and sneakers, and bring a snack, lunch and water.  We will return at 2pm.

It was another day of discovery and learning!  Our scientists were busy creating, exploring, investigating, laughing, and smiling!  We made our own bubbles and created ooey, gooey Oobleck!  There were many experiments tried today including building penny boats, designing a container to (hopefully) keep an egg safe when it drops, mixing mentos and diet coke or baking soda and vinegar to see the reactions, and creating lava lamps.  We also had some opportunities to learn about topics such as plate tectonics and DNA.  The levels we reach during this week is always so amazing!  From our youngest group to our oldest group the questions and discoveries are endless!

The important thing is to never stop questioning.

Week 3, Day 1: Science Week Begins with Tornadoes

FIELD TRIP CHANGE!!

All Groups Will Be Going to The Boston Museum of Science!

Still a 2pm Return.

Somewhere something incredible is waiting to be known.

Carl Sagan

The discoveries made today were endless!  Groups created tornadoes in a bottle and their eyes were wide with amazement watching them spin.  Some groups designed their own planets and created mini solar systems with some of their friends.  We tried an experiment with Diet Coke and Mentos that did not go so well, so we might try it again tomorrow.  Other groups went on a nature walk trying to complete a Bingo board finding leaves, rocks and more!  We even amped it up with a game of element tag and some discoveries with pH levels as well!  The experiments and discoveries continue tomorrow!

Sunshine Weather Forecast: Tornadoes Likely!
Sunshine Weather Forecast: Tornadoes Likely!

As mentioned above, we had to change the field trip to have all groups go to the Museum of Science.  Timing is still the same, but no groups will be going to the Children’s Museum because they could not fit us in during the time we needed.  Please remember to send in permission slips!
